General informations
Worn by both men and women, there is a lot of different options of piercing to wear at the nipples.
Nipple piercing with a barbell and balls or spikes
Straight barbell or curved barbell for nipple piercing?
For nipple piercing, both options are possible, though by experience, we notice that curved barbell rotate and adjust itself better with movements of the body than a straight barbell.
Ring or horseshoe ring for nipple piercing
Ring for nipple piercing is very popular. Though we recommend you to wait a complete heal (around 6 months) before wearing this type of jewel.
What size is a nipple piercing?
There is two main barbell gauge sizes for nipple piercing : 1,2mm(16G) and 1,6mm(14G) (barbell diameter).
1,2mm(16G) is the standard and most common nipple piercing gauge size. It's also the size that is generally used as first piercing jewel during healing.
1,2mm(16G) give you many options of jewels for your nipple piercing, from the smallest and discreet to something more sophisticated (gold barbell nipple piercing or gold balls for nipple piercing for example)
Some people like to wear a thicker and bigger nipple piercing, it is more approriate to get a jewel with a 1,6mm(14G) gauge in this case.
How to measure your nipple piercing?
It is important to have a nipple piercing jewel at the right length.
A barbell that is too short can compress the nipple and be painful when a barbell that is too long may bump or get caught in clothes.
To find the size of your barbell, you need to measure the inner length between the two balls (or jewels) in a straight line (see below)
Note that you don't include the screw thread (or balls when screwed on) when measuring the barbell length
Barbell length of your nipple piercing will of course vary depending the size of your nipple (man or woman for example)
For a woman, barbell length will vary between 8mm(0,31in) and 16mm(0,62in) when for men it will mostly be between 6mm(0,23in) and 10mm(0,39in) diameter.
To measure a ring or horseshoe for your nipple piercing, you can simply use a ring you already have and measure internal length as follow:
Again, with a ring on the nipple, the internal diameter will vary depending on your morphology. Women ring diamater will be between 8mm(0,31in) and 16mm(0,62in) most of the time, when for men it will be between 6mm(0,23in) and 14mm(0,55in)
If you still have a doubt about the size you should get for your nipple piercing, we recommand you to ask a professionnal piercer or do not hesitate to contact us.
