General informations
The tongue piercing consist of a straight barbell and two balls that unscrew on each end (one ball behind the tongue and the other will lean over the tongue)
What size is a tongue piercing?
1,6mm (14G) is the standard gauge size for tongue piercing
Barbell length for tongue piercing can vary between 10mm (0,39in) and 18mm(0,70in) depending on the thickness of your tongue. Note that the most common barbell length for tongue piercing tend to be 16mm(0,62in).
How to measure your tongue piercing?
It is important to have a tongue piercing jewel at the right length.
A barbell that is too short can compress the the tongue and be painful when a barbell that is too long may bump in the teeths and damage them.
To find the size of your barbell, you need to measure the inner length between the two balls (or jewels) in a straight line (see below)
Note that you don't include the screw thread (or balls when screwed on) when measuring the barbell length
